Minute Masterclass Episode 43
Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance. Your best management tool to avoid off-task behavior is… your voice. Changing the pitch, tone, and volume of your voice keeps the class exciting and engaging. Live singing allows you to control the tempo and choose appropriate descriptions based on the dancers’ execution of the objective at hand. The way in which you introduce dance concepts can bring the concept to life by using the dynamics of your voice. Sharp and smooth become “sharp!” and “smoooooooth”. Strong and light become “STRONG” and “light” (delicate voice as emphasis). For catch and reel management, a gasp will catch the dancers attention while a whisper will reel them back in. For example, Gasp! “Come here. Come closer. Closer…. Go find your tape mark.” Give it a try. Works every time! For more resources, visit DiscoverDance.com.
