Minute Masterclass Episode 95

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators. Today in our Power of Props series, we are talking about balancing props. These are your balance beams, stepping stones, dome cones, poly spots, wedge mats, bean bags, step stools, and agility hoops to name a few. Balancing props assist in helping us develop our proprioception and vestibular system, which improves our static (not moving) and dynamic (while moving) balance. In order to develop our balance, we must challenge our balance!

Balancing props, such as bean bags on different body parts, help us develop the focus, alignment, and core strength needed to successfully balance. Walking on or across props, such as stepping stones, wedge mats, and step stools, helps us develop our proprioception that is crucial for successful balancing. Balancing props are another great addition to your obstacle courses. For more information, visit DiscoverDance.com.
