Minute Masterclass Episode 135
Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience Membership. Today, I am sharing a Ballet BrainDance.
Breath: Take a big inhale as your arms rise to fifth position. Exhale as they float down through second position back to bras bas. Repeat two more times keeping your arms in fifth position the last time.
Tactile: Tap your fingers along the front of your body as you roll down through your spine, waking up the hamstrings. Feel your hands slide along the floor as you move into plank position, waking up your core.
Core/Distal: Jump your feet into a ball pose, then back out to plank. Repeat several times. Gently lower your knees to the floor.
Head/Tail: Curve and arch your back several times, waking up your spine. Tuck your toes, straighten your legs, and walk your hands back to your feet.
Upper/ Lower: As you are hanging over feeling a gentle stretch in the hamstrings, swing your upper body slowly from side to side. Push your feet into the floor and roll through your spine back to standing. With your hands on your hips, perform 4 demi pliés, élevé and balance.
Body Sides: Tendu 4 times while moving the same arm as the working leg in port de bras.
Cross Lateral: Open to a wide natural second. Twist your body from side to side crossing the midline with your arms.
Vestibular: After a few twists, let the momentum take you into a few bourrée turns. Repeat the twists and bourrée the other way this time.
