Minute Masterclass Episode 136

 Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience Membership. Today, I am sharing a Tap Braindance. 

Breath: Inhale as your arms rise to your chest. Exhale as you lower your arms down. Repeat 4 times.

Tactile: Tap on your head, shoulders, knees, and toes for 8 counts each. Reverse. Repeat in 4 counts.

Core/Distal: Step in for 8 counts, curling into core. Stamp out for 8 counts, stretching away from core. Repeat 4 times.

Head/Tail: Nod head “yes” as you toe drop. Shake head “no” as you toe drop twist. Repeat with heels. Continue heel drop twists and add hips to say “I don’t know”.

Upper/Lower: Upper: Call and Response. Clap out short rhythmic patterns for your dancers to repeat. Lower: Hands on hips. Toe taps right and left.

Body Sides: Heel digs while pumping same arm as working leg right and left.

Cross Lateral: Knocks (tips) crossing in front and behind standing leg. Repeat other side.

Vestibular: Take a deep breath in as arms reach high. Spin on the balls of the feet as you exhale and push arms down. Repeat other direction.
