Minute Masterclass Episode 30

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance. Before you begin your online classes, send a welcome email or video with helpful tips for a successful virtual class experience. Include a list of props and items needed for the class and encourage caregivers to place all items in a bin near their child’s dance space, so it’s easily accessible during class. If you are providing a personal prop kit, include instructions on pick-up procedures.

Next, encourage caregivers to mark a dance space on the floor that includes plenty of space around them. Families can use a yoga mat, tape mark, or even pillows. This will ensure their child has a perfect spot to stand for the camera and to move safely without distractions such as walls or furniture. Remind them that dancers will be moving from standing and seated positions. So the camera angle should get both views without having to move it.

Lastly, include a tutorial on how to use the platform you will be using for classes. Even if you are using the same platform from Spring and Summer classes, offering a reminder is always helpful and appreciated. For more information, visit DiscoverDance.com.
