Minute Masterclass Episode 38

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance. There are many benefits to having trained teen assistants in your younger classes. The little ones will mimic their enthusiasm, behavior, and movement while the teens gain self-confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills. With proper training, your assistants can become another key element in your classroom management plan.

Teach them to set up the studio space so you can welcome the parents and children in the lobby before class begins. Show them the layout of the obstacle course before class, so you can take attendance and connect a little more with each dancer during that time. Once comfortable, have them lead part of the BrainDance so if you are ever needed to care for a little one, they can have your full attention. Teach your assistants how to be great and effective teachers. These teens become role models both in and out of the studio. And your little ones will appreciate them being a part of their learning experience as much as you do! For more information, visit DiscoverDance.com.
