Minute Masterclass Episode 67

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance. Today we are discussing the brain-based principle: Provide Information about Nutrition and Sleep. Anne Green Gilbert writes in her Brain-Compatible Dance Education book, “Without good nutrition, water, and oxygen, the brain and body cannot function properly.”

It’s important to provide information about nutrition and sleep to your studio families, not because we are telling them how to be a better caregiver, but because we are trying to create an environment where optimal learning can take place. In order to do so, we need these needs met first. You can communicate with your families through newsletters, blog posts, handouts, social media posts, or simply by speaking with them. Make the importance of meeting these needs part of your studio culture. Not only will the little ones have a better learning experience, but they will be happier and healthier all around.
