Minute Masterclass Episode 90

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators. Today we are starting a brand new series on the Power of Props. This is one of the topics I speak the most about, because props are so important in early childhood dance education. In fact, props along with a developmentally appropriate curriculum and a solid classroom management plan are the three key elements to a successful early childhood dance program.

Props allow children to visualize and solve problems, accomplish class goals, and assist with developing foundational movement skills that prepare students for specialized dance skills. Not to mention, they are colorful, fun, and help keep even our tiniest dancers engaged. Over the next 10 weeks, we are diving into multi-sensory learning, seven groups of must-have props, my favorite places to shop, and best practices for prop management. Tune in each week as I share the importance of props, why we use them and how to use them in your classes to best benefit the young developing child. For more information, visit DiscoverDance.com.
