Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience Membership.

Just like we have to introduce dance skills to new dancers, the same dance skills we have been teaching over and over again, we have to have the same patience to answer all the questions parents may have. Would we ever walk into a ballet class and sulk over the idea of teaching pliés AGAIN? No, we do it every week. Same with pirouettes, jazz squares, and pull backs. We find new ways to deliver the information, we correct our dancers, and we repeat again and again and again. And, we get good at it. We recognize how each of our students processes the information, we notice where they struggle and the support we need to provide to help them succeed. We have a stash of combinations, tricks, and imagery to use when something else isn’t working. We continue to learn ourselves so that we can be a successful leader in the classroom. We are educators. Our calling is to educate. Let’s take our incredible skill as educators and apply it to every dance mom, dad, and grandma that knows nothing about dance and educate them.
