Minute Masterclass Episode 133

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience Membership. Today, we are exploring the eighth, and final, pattern of the BrainDance: vestibular. Our vestibular system signals to our brain the position of our head, in order for us to react to remain balanced. When we move our upper body and feel that dizzy sensation, that is our vestibular system at work. The more we perform this pattern, the more our balance improves.

In the vestibular pattern, we can spin, sway, or swing our upper body to activate this system. In between, we want to take time to allow our brain to reorganize by taking a few deep breaths before repeating in the other direction. You could perform bourreé turns, sit spins, rolls, or simply go upside down like in a bear walk, for example. Repeating this pattern three or four times in our classes each week is all we need before finishing out our BrainDance.
