Minute Masterclass Episode 193

Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience Membership. Today, we’re exploring the concepts of dance with our favorite songs from Susan Salidor.

A Very Moving Melody is a directive song exploring the concepts of place, level, directions, speed, and body parts.

Here’s a Little Bird is a creative journey exploring the concepts of place, size, and level.

Tap Your Toe and Follow Me is a sequencing activity exploring the concepts of place, energy, and body parts.

It’s Time to Stand Up is a catchy listening activity exploring the concepts of place, level, and directions.

Heel and Toe can be done independently, with a partner, or as a group and explores the concepts of place, directions, and relationships.

Over the Deep Blue Sea is a parachute or stretchy band activity exploring the concepts of directions and relationships.

Come and Make A Circle is a great transition song to bring your class together into a circle. With guidance you can explore the concept of place as you move into the circle and directions as you point to your friends . I like to play this song while we’re putting our props away after the freeze dance and gathering into our welcome circle.

Hear That Train is a traveling activity exploring the concept of pathways. Lead your class, or have the dancers lead each other, through straight, curvy, and zig zag pathways.

First You Take A Seed is a creative story dance exploring the concepts of place, level, and directions.

Circling Round is a directive circle song exploring the concepts of directions and relationships. You can perform while holding hands or a giant stretchy band.

You can find all these songs and more from Susan Salidor on Spotify and iTunes.
