Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance. When we are educating the developing child, we have to consider this fact… The human brain develops the most between ages 0-5 with the most rapid growth between the ages of 0-3. That is for an entire life span. So, the brain inside my head right now and the brain inside of your head, right now, developed the most when we were under the age of 5. In fact, approximately 90% of our neural pathways were set for life during the first years of existence.

Knowing this, as a dance teacher who teaches the early years, is super important to consider as we create a successful and effective early childhood dance program. So much is happening inside of their brains and bodies that is setting them up for the rest of their life. And we are lucky enough to be a part of that development.
