Welcome to your one-minute masterclass. I’m Andrea Trench, founder of DiscoverDance and creator of the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience Membership. Today, we’re going inside Module 2 of the Foundations Course: Our Goals. Inside this module, we identify and break down the three skill sets developed in DiscoverDance. In lesson 1, we discover the foundational skills the developing child needs to learn and progress successfully. In lesson 2, we define conceptual teaching, learn the DiscoverDance core concepts, and study how these conceptual skills apply to movement development. In our 3rd and final lesson of Module 2, we study how these conceptual skills apply to a student’s technical development. These are our codified skills. We need all three of these skills to develop simultaneously. In order to do this, we need to build our lesson plans carefully and intentionally with each of these skills at the forefront of our class objectives. In later lessons, we share exactly how we do this.
